In re: Haryana, the BJP & the Jat question:

If elections are held today, the Congress shall do well enough to form the government IF Mr. Hooda stays with it. If he leaves, the BJP will form the government. No matter what, basic BJP vote share, urban strength will remain.

With Haryana becoming more urban & diverse, the environment becomes better for the BJP with a non Jat strategy. Also Punjab can (most likely will) return to instability - so consider Hindus coming in trickles as well.

Jats need to reimagine political and social strategy to reclaim their state and society. They will have to think like the working class whites of America. They will need to make Haryana 'great' again. The best way is a Vishal Haryana. How they could go about it, I know NOT!

In re: Pakistan supporters I knew in 80’s/90’s Mumbai – one who ‘may’ have had legitimate reasons & another who had NONE:

The first one, a lower middle class Muslim guy from a slum like Muslim dominated area surrounded by Hindu fisher folk. Their life was a constant struggle filled with communal conflict. His parents lived & worked in the Gulf. He lived with relatives who suffered in the riots as well. He would support the PCB's cricket team as would people in his locality. I did not find their behavior to be justified BUT I did not mind it - India needs to see how it went wrong with people like this and what it needs to do to integrate them.

I also knew this clean looking Muslim guy of Gujarati ancestry. He came from a family of landlords, settled in Mumbai. He did have special affection for the PCB's cricket team and would get excited about movies like ‘East is East ‘and other popular culture reflecting British Pakistani culture – though it was Punjabi culture which he had nothing to do with. I never found his stand justified. Never took up the matter with either of them. To each his own! - India needs to ignore worthless people like this.

(To all the liberals - clean looking means fair. Please outrage. This is a different issue.)

My non partisan take on the events at #LakhimpurKheri :

1. Neither Ajay Mishra Teni nor his son ran over protestors or DIRECTED their henchmen to run over them. It would be silly for any serious politician to do this in the midst of the farmers protests.
2. The people who ran over protestors were criminal minded Teni supporters who felt that their boss would get them out.
3. That said, anyone apart from Teni Junior, in similar circumstances would have been arrested & jailed for YEARS before being vindicated by the courts.
4. Also, it is unfortunate that the criminal wearing a Bhindranwale t-shirt has not been arrested & made an example of.
5. The fact that this issue has become political indicates how sick our society has become. Below standard people - As they say – “Banjar Bhumi Kanjar Log”!
