My
take on the results:
- These results are great for India and will ensure that India neither becomes Rwanda nor Venezuela. By making the BJP dependent on allies, the collective wisdom of the voters ensured that further divisive policies cannot be implemented from now on.
- Further
by preventing the India Alliance from coming to power, the promised insane
levels of welfare economics will not become a reality.
- Even
though, I disagree with Rahul Gandhi’s feminism and liberalism, there is no
doubt now that he will be Prime Minister within the next 5-7 years IF he
chooses OR he will handpick someone to lead.
- Akhilesh Yadav
is one of the most underrated leaders in Indian political history. Nitish Kumar
remains relevant and Tejaswi Yadav
still has not captured the imagination of sufficient pluralities in Bihar.
- Eknath Shinde
is a survivor and these results ensure that he will remain relevant. While Sharad Pawar
’s NCP survives, I foresee a merger with the Congress in the years to come. I
admit that I was wrong about Pappu Yadav
being a spent force. He is not.
- The
AAP is not a national
alternative and will never be. The people of Delhi have shown that they vote
for it only on local issues. There is no great emotional connect with Kejriwal.
Even in Punjab,
they have lost ground
