In re: India's recent external affairs policy reversals

Europe & the Americas want India to model itself as a CONSUMPTION ORIENTED ECONOMY.

To be honest, such an economy will actually be in the interests of Indian people. However this government has other lofty Vishwa-Guru ambitions.

For this reason they are trying to cut India down to size by restoring some (not complete) equivalence with Pakistan.

Essentially India's recent external affairs policy reversals are a result of the West's economic interests. Pakistan is merely the prop.

India needs to make amends, abandon the Vishwa-Guru policy & understand the limits of its economy.

India has too many people & too few resources.

What it has is a massive market - leverage it, improve the lives of Indians. Be dispassionate.

In re: Adnan Sami

Adnan Sami has had the best of both worlds.

Think about it - growing up as part of Pakistan's Ashrafia in an Air Force & then Foreign Service family at a time when Pakistan, thanks to American/Western support, was doing better than Socialist India.

Now when the results of General Zia's policies have engulfed Pakistani society manifesting in Field Marshall Asim Munir, Adnan Sami is a bona fide Indian living in India.

Note: India is NOT at all great but is still better than today's Pakistan.

I watched him on ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ with Rajat Sharma. Public Relations & jingoism as it may be, the idea, concept & existence of Adnan Sami, a MERITORIOUS Pakistani who become an Indian represents a fantastic idea of India. Preserve it.
