In re: Why lack of foresight, isn't a uniquely Bharatiya Indian quality.

In the current constitutional scheme, the views of the Government in the hearing before the Supreme Court of India on the powers of Governors appear to be correct, certainly in letter IF not in spirit.

The REAL solution is to amend the constitution & bring clarity. However that requires dialogue between the #government & opposition.

The party in power must initiate it, smartly, realising that in time to come they shall be in opposition . However they won't be smart - as indeed the principle opposition party wasn't before 2014.

PS: Quite like how in the USA, Senator Mitch Connell told Late Senator Harry Reid, when he changed senate rules on confirmations that he would REGRET it.

In re: The USA, China, India & Pakistan

India has never fully embraced the UnitedStates.

Pakistan was always a US ally, their relationship with China notwithstanding.

The moment a PM, Imran Khan, tried to defy the US, Pakistan's establishment got rid of him - even though they had installed him originally.

Pakistan gets to ride in two boats because of its strategic location & the fact that what both superpowers want from it isn't inherently conflicting.

India doesn't have that luxury but even then one can be smarter & tone down the Vishwa Guru & Atmanirbhar Bharat bravado.

In re "अरे boss क्या ठोक दिया अरनब ने उस yankee को। (अलग बात है कि yankee का मतलब ज्यादातर भारतीयों को पता भी नहीं है!)"

Arnab Goswami is a brilliant businessman. He understands what most English speaking/knowing middle class Indians think & want.

He now invites peripheral MAGA figures every night & gets them to fight with Bharatiya 'experts'. Quite like the Pakistanis who he used to invite.

Donald Trump shall prevail when it comes to the trade war with India.

This is a battle which NO Indian government can win - the BJP's fault lies more in bravado than in anything else.

That said, the Republic Media Network run by Arnab Goswami will make big money in the interim.

In re: The Indian economy

The Indian economy is doing better than it ever was in terms of median income and standard of living.

However it's nowhere close to where it needs to be.

The main reason for this is bravado & ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. The faster the government realizes the better for Indians.

The only way forward is to develop a consumption based economy which also supplies the West - the UK/US/EU with products and services.

Excessive attitude, bravado & lack of awareness of own haisiyat hurts not only in personal/social life but also in national progress.

In re: NDRA vs. UIDAI

Pakistan's National Database & Registration Authority uses the world's most advanced methods to enumerate & identify citizens to whom it issues 'Shanakhti' cards.

India's Supreme Court rendered the Unique Identification Authority of India powerless, making 'Aadhaar' less reliable.

Excessive 'judicial review' is as dangerous as excessive democracy. I am not against democracy.

However the government of the day should be able to implement its agenda without fetters except when it indulges in unarguably absolute perversity.

I support the idea of ELECTED AUTOCRACY.

In re: India's recent external affairs policy reversals

Europe & the Americas want India to model itself as a CONSUMPTION ORIENTED ECONOMY.

To be honest, such an economy will actually be in the interests of Indian people. However this government has other lofty Vishwa-Guru ambitions.

For this reason they are trying to cut India down to size by restoring some (not complete) equivalence with Pakistan.

Essentially India's recent external affairs policy reversals are a result of the West's economic interests. Pakistan is merely the prop.

India needs to make amends, abandon the Vishwa-Guru policy & understand the limits of its economy.

India has too many people & too few resources.

What it has is a massive market - leverage it, improve the lives of Indians. Be dispassionate.

In re: Adnan Sami

Adnan Sami has had the best of both worlds.

Think about it - growing up as part of Pakistan's Ashrafia in an Air Force & then Foreign Service family at a time when Pakistan, thanks to American/Western support, was doing better than Socialist India.

Now when the results of General Zia's policies have engulfed Pakistani society manifesting in Field Marshall Asim Munir, Adnan Sami is a bona fide Indian living in India.

Note: India is NOT at all great but is still better than today's Pakistan.

I watched him on ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ with Rajat Sharma. Public Relations & jingoism as it may be, the idea, concept & existence of Adnan Sami, a MERITORIOUS Pakistani who become an Indian represents a fantastic idea of India. Preserve it.

In re: Navigating the ‘Biradar Mulks’ concept

I support voluntarily refusing to go on holidays to Turkiye. I also support looking for alternative sources of goods & services to teach them a lesson. HOWEVER cancelling existing contracts of Turkish entities is bad for business & foreign investments.

All ‘Biradar Mulks’ will support Pakistan to varying degrees.

Even Qatar's state run Al Jazeera is pro Pakistan.

The timing of the resolution of Visa related issues between Pakistan & the UAE could also possibly flow from this concept.

You have to skillfully & strategically navigate such relationships.

This government has so far rightly ignored the proverbial 'Monu Shuklas' on foreign policy. It should continue to do so.

In re: India, Pakistan & the Kashmir Division of J&K

Some in the BJP ecosystem fear or claim to fear internal disturbances if there is a war.

While I am not a delusional 'secular', I disagree.

During wars, Muslim citizens of mainland India lie low & stay out of trouble. They know that Pakistan is not a hill worth dying on.

In fact I am more worried about seculars, leftists & other crazies among our own Hindu community. Muslim citizens of mainland India , I repeat, will stay out of trouble.

THAT SAID, I hope there is no war. It won't solve anything.

The problem is in the Kashmir Division.

Make a beginning by bankrupting and reducing to poverty, the Ashrafiya of urban Kashmir, which is largely anti India. Identify them via polling both data. The masses will fall in line automatically.

Divide the existing union territory & give statehood to Jammu. Make the Kashmir Division a permanent Army administered Union Territory.
