The majority community in an area has a right to regulate consumption of food & beverages.
Special arrangements should be made for people from other communities in a way that does not offend the majority - particular zones et al.
I don't have double standards. What is true for Haridwar should be true for Lakshadweep as well. For instance you get meat & alcohol in the industrial area outside Haridwar.
Minorities in Lakshadweep can get access to alcohol in special zones. Visitors need not - don't go if you are desperate.
