I think it's mostly a question of who makes the first call.

This can be coordinated in a way that it is decided that PM Shehbaz Sharif calls PM Narendra Modi with clear instructions having been given to Indian media to not call this some kind of victory & in fact praise Shehbaz Sharif for it.

The other way around won't work because Pakistan's media isn't much of a problem except some anti Hindu crazies like Kiran Naz.

Indian media will fall in line behind the idea of talks if the PM wants it to & will find other ways to make money on the Pakistan issue - there is a peace economy in Indian media as well.
