In re: A summary of my comments on proteins.

Though I know little or nothing about science, I am reasonably sure that only animal proteins are complete ones - this does not include milk products.

However vegetarians from affording classes can easily access proper fortified diets through expert advice.

Many people recommend soya and mushrooms for vegetarians. However soya can be problematic for some from a hormonal point of view. Therefore supplements exist 

There is no substitute for expert advice on this.

In re: Reimagining India's democracy & judicial system for development.

India suffers from excessive democracy & annoying courts.

A firm system of elected autocracy and courts which are limited in their mandate is the only way out.

What do I mean by limited mandate for courts?
The state should not be able to take your house and not compensate you generously over and above the market value for fully furnished homes. Courts can intervene in such cases 
However you should not be able to oppose your house being taken over when the money being given to you by the government is over and above the market value for fully furnished homes. There should be no court intervention in such cases.

In re: Kannadiga nationalism.

I recently spent 8 nights in Bengaluru, a place which I had visited before. 

Going by a lot of what I see on social media, I decided to try & begin conversations with all classes of Kannadigas who I meet in English.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that over 80% of them either switched to Hindi after a while or responded in Hindi at the outset. 

Kannadiga nationalism will not succeed in the way that Tamil nationalism has & I am glad.

PS: I also could see that many outsiders from NON Hindi speaking states were interacting with locals in Hindi without any difficulties - Hindi being the link language.

In re: The horrific case from Pune

Two things stand out when it comes to the horrific case from Pune:
1. Hindu Society is broken to the extent that the question usually is not whether a woman has had an affair before marriage but the number of affairs that she has had - a matter of degree & not kinds.
2. Hindu men, in arranged marriages, tend to fall in love with women shortly after their engagements & begin tolerating and approving a wide variety of things. This often happens when the woman is more attractive & the man scores her only because of the family network.

This is a dangerous situation with no real solutions. 

Meanwhile the RSS et al are focussed on the wrong things.

In re: Smart diplomacy & Great politics - Credit where due.

The Government of India is not standing up to President Trump.

That is the correct approach given how important the United States is for India.

The Indian media has been deployed to manage the voters & convince them that India has the upper hand. That is politically smart.

In re: The rejection of that ‘Secular’ ladies nomination by the returning officer in Madhya Pradesh 

The returning officer rightly rejected the nomination of that 'Secular' lady who was selected by the Gandhi family as the Congress party’s nominee for the Rajya Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh over a more experienced and deserving leader like Mr. Kamal Nath.

My reasoning:

1. A Criminal Complaint is a pending case.
2. It is undisputed he was aware of it at the time of filing her nomination.
3. There is no distinction between Respondents and Accused persons in such complaints.
4. Subsequent withdrawal won't change position at time of rejection.
5. Clause 5 of Form 26 requires disclosure of ALL pending criminal cases irrespective of severity or stage.
6. Clause 5 of Form 26 has never been struck down as being beyond the scope of the parent legislation - one of the arguments which the lady's lawyers have put forth. While that is certainly an arguable point, it is a question of law which can be decided only after detailed arguments. It was a bit much for her & her supporters to expect that it would be decided on the first date itself, that too in an Article 32 petition & that she would get interim relief flowing from it.

In re: The Government of India's unfortunate decision to lift the ban on liquor in Muslim majority Lakshadweep.
The majority community in an area has a right to regulate consumption of food & beverages.
Special arrangements should be made for people from other communities in a way that does not offend the majority - particular zones et al.
I don't have double standards. What is true for Haridwar should be true for Lakshadweep as well. For instance you get meat & alcohol in the industrial area outside Haridwar.
Minorities in Lakshadweep can get access to alcohol in special zones. Visitors need not - don't go if you are desperate.

In re: Why Bharatiya peopleS should not get excited about what's happening across the LOC.

The Kashmir division of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir is better developed & doing better on most indicators than Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan 

However pro Pakistan sentiments exist among large sections.

So it will be silly to assume that these people have positive sentiments towards India.

In re: International restrucuring & India's place in the world

This is a time of international restructuring where India will be shown its AUKAAT by the United States, China & Russia often, if not always, without them actually making offensive statements.

Hopefully India will correct its course & align itself with the United States further.

In re: Indian journalists and their supposed obsession with Pakistan

Rather than Indian journalists being obsessed with Pakistan, their audience is. These journalists just make money playing on the sentiments of their audience.

For instance, retired Short Service Commission Officer, Mr. Gaurav Arya is no fool. He is a multi millionaire with a proper studio & continues to flourish in spite of his dishonest coverage of the conflict between India and Pakistan last year. His audience is obsessed with Pakistan – they crave negative news and analysis on that country without concern for accuracy. He profits from this.

Pakistani media isn't honest about India either. However two things stand out:
1. It isn't obsessed with India because the audience is not &
2. Most top Pakistani journalists are not crass - they make their points, even dishonest ones in a manner that doesn't make them look ridiculous. One exception is anti Hindu Kiran Naz who does seem ridiculous often but then she is probably catering to a niche audience as is evidenced by her prime time slots. In her case it also could be about her being a Muhajir who has a lot to prove. 

In re: Delhi's truly 'secular' & inclusive 'Lal Dora Vote-Bank' which no party can take on.

The Indian National Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party did not have the guts to apply or campaign to get applied by-laws in the urbanized villages of Delhi.

The Bharatiya Janata Party which claims to work in a decisive manner doesn't have the guts either.

I blame all of the above for incidents like today's fire in Hauz Rani. 

In re: Goa Statehood Day [31st May] & my view on how that state can be saved from further disaster.

The only way to save Goa from further disaster is to give it a separate All India Services Cadre.

Till that happens you will continue to have people from Delhi NCR exploiting their connections with AGMUT cadre officers to get contracts, subcontracts, allotments et al.

One often hears people in Delhi claim that: "मेरा दोस्त वहां गोवा में SP/DM/XYZ लगा है। कभी चलना है घूमने तो बताना…..और कोई बिल्डर है तुम्हारे पास तो जरूर बताना – काम आते रहते है। ".

Note: Most such people who claim all this are useless but it is indicative of unfettered access to Goa.
